Mr. Berghino has served as Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Courts. He presided on a wide variety of cases including traffic trials, arraignments, small claims, injury, and contract disputes. He sat on the bench in many courthouses including: Beverly Hills Courthouse, Santa Monica Courthouse, Van Nuys Courthouse, Metro Court Downtown Los Angeles.
Keegan has litigated personal injury cases against negligent automobile drivers, grocery stores, cities, the State of California (CALTRANS), and other defendants. He has taken numerous depositions of adverse parties, witnesses, and experts. The deposition is an important part of a court case and the preparation for trial. The deposition allows attorneys to cross examine witnesses and parties, gather vital information, learn about other witnesses and evidence; and often the case is won or lost at the deposition stage. The deposition witness is sworn in before testimony, and bound by the law to tell the truth, or be subject to the penalties of perjury. We have the deposition questions and answers recorded by a State of California certified court reporter. An experienced deposition attorney is essential against the insurance companies that are trying to avoid the payment of damages.
Mr. Berghino is a United States Marine. He served during the Vietnam War. Ed continues to proudly wear the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia as a tribute to the corps.
Keegan uses his experience as an avid skier and former ski shop owner in Big Bear, California, to provide superior results for victims with major injuries, such as broken bones, spinal injuries, and head injuries. Ed uses his knowledge of automobile mechanics and engines to fully evaluate and analyze automobile accident cases. He has re-built several vintage automobiles including a 1935 Morgan three wheeler. He knows how to evaluate property damage, accident dynamics, and forces of impact to get the most out of every automobile accident claim. His experience with doctors, surgeries, and all aspects of medicine, makes him especially qualified to handle all levels of personal injury cases from herniated discs, lumbar, cervical, and thoracic disc bulges, spinal compression injuries, spine stenosis, whiplash, muscle spasm, radiating pain, numbness, and headaches, to wrongful death, paralysis, loss of arms and/or legs.
Keegan has regularly participated in the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles’ annual seminar for over 15 years. The CAALA seminar in Las Vegas is the largest annual convention for trial attorneys representing injury victims.
